New Offices for Rail Engineers AM1 in Chatham

AM1 Projects are a fast expanding engineering business based in Chatham, Kent.

AM1 provide a specialist service to several major railway clients. They undertake the maintenance, development and renewal of DC conductor rail equipment, DC traction return equipment, Substation earthing equipment, High Voltage feeder cable routes and the provision of various specialist roles and labour to support maintenance and major infrastructure projects.

AM1 Projects New Offices in Chatham

Having outgrown their existing facilites, AM1 decided to build their own facility, a completely new building in Chatham, Kent. With large, clear office space on two floors, warehouse storage and outdoor storage, it offers them space to grow over the coming years.

Having commissioned the building, Aerofoil Design were then approached to help design the office interior, and to supply the office furniture and seating. After many meetings, several designs and evaluation of the furniture and seating being proposed, orders were placed.

OGI Bench Desks from MDD

Aerofoil Design proposed OGI bench desks, with Chestnut wood effect melamine worksurfaces and white steelwork.

They are of very good quality whilst being extremely well priced, and the Chestnut finish looked very stylish in the new offices.

Unite Mesh Back Task Chairs

The Unite task chairs have proven very popular with our Customers, and having evaluated a number of options, these Mesh back task chairs with fabric seats were chosen for the open areas of this project.

The red Xtreme seating fabric co-ordinates nicely with the 3d fabric used on the desk dividing screens, This screen fabric was chosen as offers a relief pattern within the weave, making it both interesting visually. It also helps a little with the sound absorbtion.

The furniture installation was nearing completion at this stage, just the cupboards and some wiring remained to be completed

Managers Offices

Each of the Managers had small cellular offices with a combination of glazed and solid partitions, completed by others in this case.

We specified stylish OGI Manager's desks in the same finishes to continue the design theme. These L shape desks had one ring style leg with the opposing side of the desktop supported by a small storage credenza.

Office Storage Cupboards

Cupboards don't have to be boring!

Here we've specified and linked high and low cupboards to create interesting architectural structures.

The tall units maximise storage capacity whilst the low ones allow printers etc to be positioned, and whiteboards can be positioned inbetween.

High Planning Tables

The Customer required an area to be able to meet to discuss, and work on their projects. They frequently have to lay out large format drawings so needed large worksurfaces.

At the same time, they required storage for archived project files - which still needed to be accessed from time to time. This neat solution was created to solve this problem.

By fitting the cupboards with overhanging tops we were able to fulfill the meeting requirement, whilst providing storage for the archived files.

The staff can stand up and work on drawings at the table, or can sit higher up using these stylish Unite bar stools.

Desktop Power and Data Sockets

The engineers frequently work away from the office and when they return with their laptops, they need to be able to quickly plug into power and data.

Each of these workstation positions was provided with a desktop module with both 13amp power sockets and RJ45 data sockets within easy reach of the users.

Aerofoil provided the power and data cabling that runs through the cable management trays under the worksurface, and connects with the wall sockets.

Ergohuman Task Chairs

Ergohuman chairs were chosen for the Managers, with our best selling Key visitor chairs completing the package.

Executive Desk

Quadrifoglio's T45 range was selected for the Managing Director, combining Wenge wood effect finishes with White melamine.

The furniture had to be hardwearing and resistant to scratching so melamine finishes were chosen over wood veneers.

Director's Office Chair

This Italian executive chair was supplied for the Managing Director to use.

Quadrifoglio Cupboards

This unusual cupboard door design was created using both Wenge and White finished doors. Simple but effective.

Behind the doors, one cupboard was fitted out as a wardrobe whilst the other was fitted with filing shelves.

Rectangular Chestnut Finish Meeting Table

A number of smaller meeting tables were provided, at standard height.

These were complemented with Vibe stackable meeting chairs, with black plastic backs, chrome frames and red Xtreme upholstery.
